The Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (HOME) registered as a society and charity in 2004 and is dedicated to upholding the rights of migrant workers in Singapore, including victims of human trafficking and forced labour.
Our activities, which focus on advocacy, welfare and empowerment, are aimed at creating an inclusive society which upholds the principles of equality and non-discrimination. Our vision is to ‘build a culture of welcome where no man, woman or child is a stranger; we are family’.

Over the past 15 years, the antislavery movement’s visual culture has depicted a world of 30 million slaves. Beyond the inevitable presence of chains and bars, much of this visual culture uses four main tropes: the supplicant slave, the scourged back, the auction block and the slave ship.

Over the past few weeks, President Trump’s executive orders have increased deportations and detentions; spreading fear amongst the immigrant community. This fear is felt even more deeply amongst foreign nationals who were brought to the United States against their will: the victims of human trafficking.
